NBC 11 Sports: Gila Ridge dominates section tennis awards, KYMA wraps up 2nd annual cornhole extravaganza

YUMA, Ariz., (KYMA, KECY) - We put a bow on the Yuma spring sports season honors by hitting the tennis court on the boys and girls sides - with Gila Ridge showing out.

The Hawks turned out two of the three top honors with head coach Gregory Brown taking Coach of the Year - along with Andrew Tams and Shawn Garner being named Section Doubles Players of the Year.

But it was San Luis' Derick Aguirre taking the cake as the Section Singles Player of the Year after losing just one match throughout the entire regular season en route to a state tournament appearance.

On the girls side, it was Travis Bogart collecting another Coach of the Year award with three of his players sweeping the Players of the Year category. Faith Voorhies and Sarah Emmons taking home the doubles crown and Lilly Moreland once again as the singles champion. It was no doubt after the entire Lady Hawks team was the only Yuma team to reach the state tournament after being ranked in the top 10 all season.

Plus, KYMA's office cornhole tournament commenced - ending in a classic comeback for a pair that took home the crown in the second annual event.
