PHOENIX, Ariz. (KYMA) - The Arizona Diamondbacks are bringing back long-time manager Torey Lovullo, agreeing to a two-year contract after his future with the team was uncertain following the 2026 season.

The deal was finalized Thursday morning, just days after the Diamondbacks finished the season with a 9-4 loss to the San Diego Padres and missed the playoffs for a third consecutive season.

Lovullo has managed Arizona for 10 seasons, making him the third-longest-tenured manager in Major League Baseball.

He is also the winningest manager in Diamondbacks history, with 750 victories.

Under Lovullo, Arizona has reached the postseason twice, including a run to the World Series in 2023.

The Diamondbacks have fallen short of the playoffs in each of the last three seasons, missing out by three games or fewer each year.

Arizona also saw regression from several key players this season, including Corbin Carroll, Geraldo Perdomo and Ketel Marte. On the other side, the Diamondbacks saw improvement from their bullpen and defense.

With Lovullo now set to return for two more seasons, Arizona will look to build on those improvements and get back into postseason contention.
