Yuma City FC makes history with 3-2 win in inaugural UPSL match

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Yuma City FC made history Saturday night, hosting its inaugural United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) match at Desert Sun Stadium in front of an excited home crowd.

Yuma City FC faced Next Level Academy out of Gilbert, opening the match with plenty of attacking pressure.

Rodolfo Valenzuela made history early, scoring the first UPSL goal in club history. Valenzuela connected with winger Ernie Garza on a give-and-go before finding space around the keeper and putting Yuma City FC on the board.

Just minutes later, Valenzuela struck again, quickly giving Yuma City FC a 2-0 advantage.

Next Level Academy continued to fight, eventually cutting into the deficit and making things interesting late in the match. But Valenzuela netted a hat trick to help Yuma City FC hold on for a 3-2 victory.

The win gives Yuma City FC three points in its first-ever UPSL match and marks the beginning of a new chapter for competitive soccer in Yuma. While the club celebrated a memorable first win in front of its home fans.
