Merrill Kelly agrees to two year extension with D-Backs

Scottsdale native was named 2021 D-backs’ Most Valuable Pitcher by the Arizona chapter of the BBWAA

PHOENIX, Ariz. ( KYMA, KECY-TV ) - On Friday morning the The Arizona Diamondbacks announced an agreement with pitcher Merrill Kelly on a 2-year contract extension through 2024 with a club option for 2025.

Last season the Scottsdale, Arizona native finished the season 7-11 with a 4.44 ERA and 130 strikeouts in 27 starts in his third season with the D-backs. Kelly was also named the 2021 D-backs’ Most Valuable Pitcher by the Arizona chapter of the BBWAA.

Kelly graduated from Desert Mountain High School, Yavapai College and Arizona State University. He was signed by the D-backs as a free agent on Dec. 7, 2018.
