Wild squirrel chase at an MLB game

DETROIT (NBC, KYMA) - A squirrel wanting to get in on the action ran onto the field during the Orioles and Tigers baseball game in Detroit.

The squirrel's dash across the Comerica field included a quick run-in with a bird before it kept racing around the field.

After about a full inning of circling the ballpark and refusing to be corralled by players, reinforcements were called.

The chase reached its peak during the seventh inning stretch, when the entire grounds crew came rushing onto the field.

After many fake-out moves from the squirrel and towel attempts to wrap the squirrel up, the chase came to an end.

The lighthearted interaction left fans and players alike talking about the unexpected highlight of the game.
