IndyCar Freedom 250 Grand Prix to be held in Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON (NBC, KYMA) - President Donald Trump welcomed some of the biggest names in motor sports to the White House this afternoon to promote the IndyCar Freedom 250 Grand Prix in Washington.

President Trump was joined by legendary car owner Roger Penske as well as three of the best IndyCar drivers in the world.

One of the drivers handed the president a helmet and there was a brief demonstration of a pit stop.

The IndyCar Freedom 250 Grand Prix will be the highlight of a weekend of racing on August 22 and 23.

Cars will zoom through a street course that will include the national mall.

The president delivered brief remarks and alluded to the ongoing hostilities with Iran.
