World Nineball Tour ventures to Desert Southwest

WINTERHAVEN, Calif. (KYMA) - The World Nineball Tour brought a global field of talent to the Desert Southwest this weekend as the Arizona Open Championship took place at Quechan Casino.

The tournament began with 128 players representing 38 different nationalities, showcasing some of the world's top pool players.

The Arizona Open is part of the World Nineball Tour's U.S. swing, which started earlier this month with the Florida Open in Orlando and will conclude later this month with the U.S. Open Pool Championship in Frisco, Texas.

Players from around the world gathered to compete for a share of the tournament's $125,000 prize pool, with the champion taking home $25,000.

"The tournament is amazing as always," said player Aleksa Pecelj. "I mean the competition is the best of the world. They're always coming to play these major events, so I'm happy to be a part of it and even more happy to go very deep."

The tournament wraps up Sunday night, crowning a champion after a weekend of high-level international competition in the Desert Southwest.
