Yuma City FC wrap up preseason, win first match at home 5-0

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Yuma City FC made its home debut at Desert Sun Stadium with a dominant 5-0 victory over Armed Forces Yuma FC in its final preseason friendly.

Armed Forces Yuma FC is the varsity soccer program from Marine Corps Air Station Yuma.

Alexis Aguirre-Barrena opened the scoring in the 19th minute after a beautiful pass from Jonathan Soto. Mauricio Salcedo added another goal in the 30th minute to give City FC a 2-0 advantage.

Yuma Catholic star Cade Garcia had a nice assist to Ernie Garza to increase the lead to 3-0.

Yuma City FC continued its strong performance in the second half, with Gio Ortega scoring twice. His first goal came off a through ball from Salcedo, while his second came after Blas Gasca tracked down a pass from Garza and sent it into the box.

City FC added one more goal to complete the 5-0 shutout and officially opened its home field with a preseason victory.

Yuma City FC will begin its inaugural United Premier Soccer League season on September 19 against Next Level Academy. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m at Desert Sun Stadium.
