Arizona surrenders 6 early runs in route to blowout loss.

PHOENIX, Ariz., (KYMA, KECY) - The Arizona Diamondbacks hopes of getting a series opening win against the Washington Nationals would fade quickly on Friday night.

Starting pitcher Riley Smith gave up 8 earned runs in the 1st 3 innings of the game on the way to the Diamondbacks 17-2 loss.

The D'backs have now lost 9 of their last 11 games.
