Insider Blog: October 2025 Weather Recap

Weather Authority/ KYMA

October was an overall warm month with more days ABOVE normal. Also, we can’t forget about the wet start we had, bringing measurable rain here in Yuma. Take a look at our weather recap and stats for the month of October.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA-TV)- All of October, we had more days ABOVE normal for the month. Now, Yuma didn’t break any new temperature records, but Yuma did have an overall warm month.

The warmest day of the month was on Thursday, October 2nd, and Wednesday, October 8th, when Yuma reached 98 degrees. The coolest daytime highs were on Tuesday, October 14, and Wednesday, October 15th where Yuma reached 79 degrees.

On Friday, October 10th, Yuma received some measurable rain in Yuma.

The rain we did get this month helped our monthly rain numbers for the month of October. Our rain total for the month leaves us at 0.27”, and our monthly average is 0.13", so that leaves us slightly above our monthly average by 0.14”.

Now, let’s look at where Yuma stands with our yearly rain total. Since the start of the year, so far for 2025, Yuma has accumulated 2.62", and comparing it with our 2025 yearly average, we actually should be at 2.62," which is right where we should be for the year so far.

However, with what Yuma has accumulated so far for 2025 and comparing it to our total around this same time back in 2024, we were actually at 2.21." So we have more than last year so far, and right where we should be for the year so far.

We can’t forget about our drought conditions, but we have seen HUGE improvements within the last few months for our area.

At the start of the year, the majority of the Desert Southwest was under severe drought, with a chunk of La Paz in extreme drought.

And in May 2025, Yuma reached EXCEPTIONAL drought conditions. At the end of August 28th, Yuma was still showing exceptional drought conditions for Yuma. But now the Desert Southwest is barely seeing extreme drought.

The last drought monitor for October was on October 28th, and it was showing the Desert Southwest is barley seeing extreme drought. We are mainly having severe and moderate drought conditions.
