Ex-YPD police officer accepts plea deal in sexual misconduct case

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A former Yuma police officer, who was arrested over five years ago and charged in a sexual misconduct case, has accepted a plea deal just before his trial was set to begin this week.

43-year-old Bobby Anthony Garcia faced 47 charges of sexual misconduct.

His trial was set to begin this Tuesday, almost five years after his initial arrest back in 2020.

He will only plead guilty to three counts; sexual conduct with a minor, molestation of a minor per domestic violence and attempted sexual exploitation of a minor.

Garcia will be formally sentenced on May 8.
