Body found and identified as missing kayaker

SAN DIEGO (KYMA, KECY) - The body in San Diego is confirmed to be the missing kayaker, Danny Marròn of Yuma.

The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department says they found a body in the Ocean Beach area Wednesday afternoon.

Marròn's outrigger kayak washed up on the other side of the jetty on Valentine's Day.

Last weekend, the San Diego Coast Guard conducted a search for Marron after he was reported missing, but on Sunday, February 16, they suspended the search.

Marròn's family created a GoFundMe, which has since raised over $26,000 as of Saturday.

Marròn was a professor at Arizona Western College (AWC), a former counselor at Gila Ridge High School, and according to the GoFundMe, a member of the San Diego paddle community.
