Five home burglary suspects appear in court

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The five suspects caught breaking into a foothills home over the weekend appeared in court this afternoon to face their charges.

All five of the suspects were formally charged with residential burglary and criminal trespassing.

The suspects are 25-year-old Giselle Cardenas, 22-year-old Jonathan Hernandez, 33-year-old Carmen Maldonado, 18-year-old Alfredo Medina, and 42-year-old Jason Valenzuela.

They were formally charged with residential burglary and criminal trespassing.
“I need to advise each of you that the county attorney’s office did file a complaint, alleging one count of burglary in the second degree in the second degree, count two, trespass in the first degree,” said Judge Kathryn Stocking-Tate.

Last Friday night, the three men and two women were arrested for attempted burglary after a neighbor called 911.

When a Yuma County Deputy was speaking to one person in the home, the four other suspects tried to escape.

They were arrested at the scene.

Cardenas is being held on a $20,000 bond, Valenzuela is being held on no bond, and the three other defendants have a $15,000 bond.

All five suspects will be back in court Monday afternoon.
