Tracking clear for Saturday, slight storm chances into Sunday

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Saturday is tracking to be a beautiful start to our weekend with clear skies forecasted throughout the day.

Temperatures will be just above the hundred degree mark, with Yuma forecasted to reach 103°F. El Centro is trending similar with a high of 104°F.

Clouds will increase Saturday night as moisture moves into the region, setting the stage for a cooler and more active Sunday.

Yuma is forecasted to reach 97°F Sunday, while El Centro will also top out around 97°F. Both areas have a 30% chance for showers Sunday afternoon, with a slight chance for thunderstorms in Yuma later in the day.

Winds will generally stay light Sunday, with speeds around 5 to 10 mph, though gusts could reach 20 mph at times in El Centro.

Rain chances continue into Monday, with Yuma reaching around 94°F and El Centro near 95°F. Yuma has a 40% chance for showers and thunderstorms, while El Centro has a 30% chance for showers early in the day.

Monday will also turn breezier, especially in Imperial County, where southwest winds could reach 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

The cooler trend is expected to continue into the first half of next week, with temperatures dropping below normal and highs staying in the 80s across much of the lower deserts.
