Family of child with autism requests birthday cards

(CNN) - "My nephew turns 9 September 14th. Last year, he didn't have anyone show up to his birthday party."

Sometimes, we all need a reminder that we matter. That in this giant world, there is someone thinking of us; someone who thinks we are important.

"He is a little discouraged that people don't think of him. He is autistic and doesn't understand," Amber Sosebee, Austin Sosebee's mother, spoke.

Austin is eight-years-old.

"He is a playful, sometimes moody kid," Austin's mother described.

Not only that, he has had a rough time.

"People tend to bully him at school, no one wants to show up to any of his events. Every kid deserves to be loved and he deserves to have friends show up."" Bri Sosebee, Austin's aunt cried.

Austin turns nine on September 14th.

This year, the family is doing something different. They're asking total strangers, all over the state of Georgia, to write and send birthday cards to Austin.

"Maybe a few birthday cards and he would realize there are others who actually want to send him something, who actually care," Bri hoped.

While it's nice for strangers to send Austin birthday cards, to Bri Sosebee, there is something more important.

"I am trying to get him to know that everyone does care, there are people out there anywhere around the world that actually care about him."

If you would like to make Austin's Birthday extra special this year, you can send birthday cards to:
