CAUGHT ON CAMERA: ‘Huge’ meteor crosses California sky

CHESTER, Calif. (CBS, KYMA) - Home security footage captured a bright meteor streaking across the Northern California sky in the early hours of Monday.

The footage shows a sudden flash illuminating the night sky as the meteor burned through the atmosphere, visible for just a few seconds before disappearing.

"This was recorded this morning at 6:06 a.m. from my parents' security cam in Chester, Northern California, looking North toward Oregon and Washington," the uploader said.

The sighting comes amid a cluster of recent fireball events reported across the United States in late March, with observers in multiple states documenting similar bright streaks overhead.
