Gorillas at the San Antonio Zoo uninterested in primate plushie

SAN ANTONIO (CBS, KYMA) - Caretakers gave gorillas a primate plushie at the San Antonio Zoo after being inspired by Japan's viral juvenile monkey Punch, but the gorillas did not hold the same enthusiasm for the toy, footage released Monday shows.

Footage released to X by the San Antonio Zoo shows a caretaker tossing a stuffed Curious George monkey toy toward one of the adult western lowland gorillas, who stares at it without budging from their spot.

Later footage shows another gorilla walking up to the plushie and looking at it, before promptly walking away.

"We heard primate plushies were the hottest new enrichment trend…safe to say the Congo Falls crew had other thoughts," the zoo joked on X.
