Rescue crews save swan stuck in frozen pond

RYE, N.Y. (CBS, KYMA) - Rescue crews saved a swan stuck on a frozen pond in Rye, New York Friday.

City of Rye Police and Fire Departments responded to reports of a "clearly distressed mute swan" whose rear end became stuck to the surface of the frozen Kirby Pond.

Aerial footage shows a first responder in cold water rescue gear slowly walk across the frozen pond and free the bird.

Police said the swan was later taken to a local animal rescue and rehabilitation center.
