Shaquille O’Neal takes on new role with the Georgia State Sheriff’s Office

HENRY COUNTY, Ga. (NBC, KYMA) - NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal has taken on a new role with the Georgia state sheriff's office.

The basketball Hall of Famer was promoted to Chief of Community Relations by the Henry County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) in Georgia. The surprise news was presented to Shaq during his NBA Christmas broadcast.

According to a post on Instagram, O'Neal has been HCSO's Director of Community Outreach for the last five years.

During that time, the county, where he owns a home, has seen an increase in community events, gifts for kids, and positive interactions.
