Man accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO returns to court
(CNN, KYMA) - Luigi Mangione, the man accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson about a year ago, has returned to court Monday.
His attorneys are seeking to have his diary entries and other evidence thrown out of court. They argue investigators illegally seized them from the 27-year-old's backpack without a warrant.
Prosecutors disagree, and have agreed to a hearing on the matter.
Mangione also faces a separate, federal death penalty case. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Back in September, a New York judge dismissed two murder charges related to terrorism against Mangione, but approved murder in the second degree.
