Joey Chestnut to return to Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest next month

(NBC, KYMA/KECY) - Joey Chestnut is ready to take back his crown as the 16-time Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest winner returning to the competition on July 4.

Chestnut was banned from last year's contest over a sponsorship with a plant-based rival brand.

Patrick Bertoletti won last year with 58 dogs and buns, 18 shy of Chestnut's contest record.

With the 2025 contest just a few weeks away, Chestnut says he's been training since May for his inevitable return.

Last year, Chestnut set a hot dog eating world record, eating 83 hot dogs in 10 minutes, beating his previous world record, eating 76 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes.
