Arizona Department of Revenue searching for beneficiaries.
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KSWT) In Military Matters, a new report coming out of the Arizona Department of Revenue is showing millions in unclaimed funds by military personnel dating back 30-years. The amounts unclaimed range from a few hundred to tens of thousands of dollar; the funds could be due to uncashed payroll checks, tax refunds, rebates and money left in old accounts.
Among the installations where a service member could have served during those three decades, Yuma Proving Ground and Marine Crops. Air Station Yuma are among them. The ADOR has sent notices to those individuals; but, since they send the notices to the most current address many times those service members have moved. According to the ADOR many times notices are sent to the wrong addresses or a service member dies and family is unaware of their unclaimed assets.
During the past fiscal year the ADOR returned approximately $48,4 million in unclaimed funds; in the past three years they returned nearly a $170 million. They’re advising any active, veteran or family members to check for any unclaimed funds. Just log on to the Arizona Department of Revenue’s website and check the property section
