San Luis, Mexico woman raises money to help her mother

SAN LUIS, Mexico (KYMA) - A San Luis, Mexico woman walks through the streets everyday, searching through trash for aluminum cans and scrap metal in order to help raise money for her mother.

Maribel Vega collects whatever she can find, and then sells it to help pay for food and other basic needs for her 82-year-old mother, who has a motor disease.

Spending hours in the extreme heat can make every walk a challenge, but Vega said she keeps going because her mother depends on her.

"First and foremost, it is an honor for me to be able to care for the person I love most, my mother. That is why I started this fundraiser. For me, it is my responsibility and a commitment to do everything I can to support my mother with the money I raise," Vega expressed.

Vegas appreciates the community's solidarity and requests support in the form of food, diapers, financial resources, or help covering household utility bills.
