Family of murder victim holds car wash fundraiser

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The family of the Fernando Islas held a car wash fundraiser Sunday morning.

According to Islas's mother, Rita, she says he was the victim in last week's shooting that resulted in the APS ground line crash. Islas was 18-years-old.

"My son had a great heart and he didn't deserve this at all. I want them to find who did this to him," Rita expressed.

The car wash started at 10:00am Sunday at Diego's Mexican Food, with the proceeds going to the family. The car wash ended at 3:00pm.

In addition to his mother, Fernando is survived by his girlfriend, and his one-year-old daughter. According to Rita, Islas's girlfriend is pregnant with his second child.
