YRMC prioritizes employee mental health and wellness

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Yuma Regional Medical Center (YRMC) says employee mental health and wellness is a high priority for the hospital.

The past few years have been tough on the Yuma community, especially the healthcare workers who face disproportionate stress, according to YRMC.

And even though the COVID-19 pandemic is no longer a public health emergency, YRMC says its impact on their staff and their mental health continues.

Thanks to the Foundation of YRMC, four "Zen Dens" have been added for staff to take a break, and find peace and comfort, YRMC says.

According to YRMC, a "Zen Den" might sound like a spa, but it’s actually a relaxation room, located within the walls of YRMC’s facilities.

These quiet spaces will help YRMC employees recover from stress or anxiety during their break, or before and after their shift.

Samantha Byrd will have the full story later this evening.
