Imperial County selects 14 semi-finalists for postcard contest

IMPERIAL COUNTY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Imperial County officials have announced the commencement for their inaugral Postcard Contest.

In a press release, they are inviting county residents to participate and help select the top five entries "that best capture the beauty and spirit" of Imperial County.

The County said that over several weeks, artists and photographers across the county submitted their work, showcasing landscapes, landmarks and vibrant culture that make Imperial County "truly exceptional."

Out of the 100 entries, the County said they have selected 14 entries to head into the semi-finals. The finalists and their creations are the following:

  • Sophia Aguirre – "Billboard Workers"
  • Daniela Villaseñor – "IV"
  • Dania Garcia – "Mt. Signal Canal"
  • Katalina Banaga – "Five Panels"
  • Ashley Havens – "230 ft. Below"
  • Brittany Coronel – "IC Renewables"
  • Elijah Medina – "Lambs"
  • Kayla Heacock – "Fair Rides"
  • Alexis Meza – "Sunny Imperial County"
  • Sofia Salazar – "Sand Dunes"
  • Janeth Chaides – "Ocotillo Under Bridge"
  • Micah Mendoza – "Warm Welcome"
  • Alexa Palomares – "Downtown Façade"

Voting started Tuesday, July 18 and will go until Monday, July 31. After that, the top five postcards will go to the Board of Supervisors, who will then choose the top three prizewinners, according to the County.
