North Carolina teen arrested in connection to San Diego mosque shooting

FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. (NBC, KYMA) - A North Carolina teen was arrested and indicted Monday in connection to the deadly shooting at a San Diego mosque earlier this year.

Sarah Lindsay Santiago, 17, is charged with three counts of murder and a count of conspiracy for working with the two teenage gunmen to record and disseminate a livestream of the May attack at the Islamic Center of San Diego that left three people dead.

According to the indictment, Santiago also published the attackers' manifesto afterward.

Officials said the teenage girl had multiple opportunities to report the shooting before it happened.

She will be tried as an adult due to the terrorism-related nature of the crime, and is is expected to appear in a North Carolina court September 10.
