Woman known as ‘Ketamine Queen’ sentenced in connection to Matthew Perry’s death

UPDATE (12:42 PM): The woman who sold the drugs that killed "Friends" actor Matthew Perry's will spend 15 years behind bars.

Jasveen Sangha, known to her drug customers as the "Ketamine Queen," pleaded guilty last fall to five federal charges related to Perry's 2023 overdose death.

In a sentencing hearing Wednesday, Sangha was sentenced to 15 years in prison and three years of supervised release.

She has been in federal custody since her arrest in august 2024.

Sangha's defense lawyers insisted she has "accepted responsibility" for her conduct, but the judge did not accept their requested sentence of time served.

Outside of the courthouse following the hearing, the defense lawyers say the sentence is unjust given the role she played in Perry's death.

"My first reaction is...I'm bitterly disappointed...If you weren't in the courtroom, the argument is there's no way that Jasveen is five times more culpable than the person who injected Matthew Perry with the drug, or the doctor who got the drug. To me, it's absurd in the literal meaning of the word...If this is what the criminal justice system, or the Theory of Crime and Punishment is, that the dealer should get five times as much as the person who injects the drug, who is there to take care of somebody, then maybe I've been practicing too long."

Mark Geragos, Jasveen Sangha's defense attorney

Perry was dead in his pool at his Los Angeles home in October of 2023.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office later attributed his death to an accidental overdose of ketamine, a hallucinogenic anesthetic that in recent years gained popularity as an off-label, unrelated treatment for depression.

LOS ANGELES (NBC, KYMA) - A woman known as the "Ketamine Queen" is set to be sentenced Wednesday.

Jasveen Sangha has admitted to selling Matthew Perry the ketamine that ended up taking his life in 2023.

Members of Perry's family arrived Wednesday morning for the sentencing and are expected to speak during the proceedings.

Sangha is one of five defendants related to the case, and the only one whose plea deal included an acknowledgment of causing Perry's death.

She is also likely to get the stiffest sentence of those charged as prosecutors are seeking a 15-year prison sentence.

Perry was found dead in the hot tub at his house in Los Angeles.
