$1.2 billion Mega Millions jackpot winner identified

COTTONWOOD, Calif. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - Nearly three months after the drawing, the name of the winner of the largest Mega Millions jackpot in California history was revealed Monday.

After 80 days of waiting for the winner to be identified, Rosemary Casarotti was announced by the California Lottery as the lucky owner of the $1.2 billion ticket.

The life-changing ticket was sold December 27 at the "Sunshine Food and Gas Circle K" in Cottonwood, located in Shasta County.

Although she wasn't present for Monday's press conference, she told the California Lottery she's grateful for her winnings.

The California Lottery did not reveal where the winner lives.
