Tierra Del Sol Elementary School teacher won $2,500 grant

SOMERTON, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Jessica Guiverra, a 5th-grade teacher at Tierra del Sol Elementary School in Somerton won $2,500 dollars from the Palo Verde Fiesta Bowl Wishes for Teachers.

She says her wish is to build a library for her classroom.

The Palo Verde Fiesta Bowl Charities Wishes for Teachers program provides grants to Arizona teachers for use in their classrooms.

Created in 2016, the Fiesta Bowl Charities Wishes for Teachers program grants classroom wishes to teachers across the state of Arizona.

The Fiesta Bowl Organization saw that many teachers spent their own money to enhance their classroom experience and developed a program to aid teachers in that effort.

The seventh annual program will provide $2,500 in awards to 400 teachers, for a total of $1 million in donations.

$4.7 million granted over the last six years to 1,200 teachers through Palo Verde Fiesta Bowl Charities Wishes for Teachers

More than 500,000 students at more than 500 schools across the state have been impacted through Palo Verde Fiesta Bowl Charities Wishes for Teachers over the last six years.
