Yumans prepare for flood watch

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Many locals came out to the Yuma Civic Center parking lot to prepare for this weekend's predicted rain storm.

The flood watch is in effect from Friday morning through Saturday evening according to the National Weather Service.

A flood watch is a sign to prepare when flooding is possible.

The City of Yuma began giving out the free sand bags Thursday at 8 a.m. and will go until 8 p.m. each day through Saturday.

The sandbag station will be stocked with sand and empty bags for self-filling while supplies last.

Residents are allowed five sandbags per vehicle.

In the event of power outages, a Cooling Center will be available at the Yuma Civic Center.
