Tracking slightly warmer temperatures and possible rain chances ahead

Tracking temperatures to warm up slightly above average later this week and into the weekend. Also, tracking a chance of showers being possible through the week, with higher chances early next week.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Happy Wednesday! Here's today's outlook. Rain and storm chances are possible, but the highest and best rain activity will favor the eastern and northern parts of Arizona.

There is a 10-30% chance of storms surviving into the Desert Southwest this evening. Gusty outflow winds will be more likely, which could generate areas of blowing dust.

I am tracking nice and dry conditions, with dew points still staying in the 40s for now. However, dew points are expected to increase, mainly during the morning hours.

TRACKING POLO: Just yesterday, Hurricane Polo reached historic strength and has weakened a little bit since, but still a strong and major Hurricane. Polo is now a Category 4 Hurricane.

Polo continues to swirl off the coast of Mexico and continues to bring heavy rain and flooding to the Mexico area.

As Hurricane Polo moves farther north over the next few days, we could see increased moisture in our area. The impact from the storm may be felt in the Desert Southwest early next week, if at all.

I am also tracking Hurricane Odalys in the eastern Pacific as well. Powerful Hurricane Polo and Hurricane Odalys appear to be on a collision course, but it does seem unlikely, as Odalys is looking to rapidly weaken.

But as Polo moves closer and traveling northward, we could see increased humidity and clouds with a chance for showers around the Desert Southwest.

Right now, we have slight rain chances through the week, with the highest chance on Monday and even into Tuesday. I will keep tracking and bring updates as we inch closer to next week.

As the week continues, temperatures will be warming up just a little bit and will be trending slightly above-average by the weekend.

I am tracking some extra clouds and some humidity through the week. Temperatures are expected to warm up to slightly above-normal levels by late this week and into the weekend.

Rain chances are possible later this week and into early next week. Temperatures are also going to cool into the upper 90s by early next week as well.
