Woman arrested for sneaking drugs into San Luis prison
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KSWT, FOX 9) - A woman was arrested by the Department of Corrections Saturday for allegedly sneaking drugs into the Arizona Prison Complex in Yuma.
"The woman was an approved visitor of an inmate, arrested for introducing suspected narcotics into the prison," said Bill Lamoreaux, Arizona Department of Corrections.
Maria De Jesus Garcia-Vasquez was arrested on two felony charges by the Arizona Department of Corrections including transporting and/or selling a narcotic drug.
However, in Yuma Justice Court Tuesday the 56-year-old found out the State of Arizona is only charging her with one felony charge of contraband.
The woman was found guilty of a drug paraphernalia violation in 2009 in Maricopa County.
She is being held on a $10,000 bond.
