Two crashes lead to barricade situation; possible human smuggling

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KSWT, KECY)- Border Patrol tells News 11 a man involved in two crashes Thursday morning barricaded himself in a home before finally surrendering to law enforcement.

The barricade was off of Foothills Boulevard and 46th Street.

Border Patrol says helicopters were on the scene along with Border Patrol agents, Rural Metro, and the Yuma County Sheriff's Office.

BP said the car chase started in Calexico and ended in the Foothills.

Agents said the vehicle that was being chased had four people inside, not including the driver, that might have been smuggled illegally into this country. Border Patrol is looking into this allegation.

Agents said the driver was involved in two crashes. One of those crashes resulted in the injury of a woman. She was taken to Yuma Regional Medical Center. Her condition is not known at this time.
