Quechan Senior Center offers beneficial recreational programs
The Quechan Senior Center is a multipurpose facility that provides Quechan Tribal Members aged 55 and older with recreational programs such as swimming and sewing.
In addition to food and transportation, language classes are also offered to members to preserve the traditional Quechan language.
The Fort Yuma Indian Reservation is home to Quechan natives and located north of the Mexican border.
Art and fitness activities are also optional to those who want to keep their mind and body active.
“Well, we always seem to have a good time. I learn a lot [by] being here,” said Robin Staton, a volunteer watercolor teacher. “I think it’s important if you’re older and you don’t have a lot of activities. It’s important to schedule things for yourself.”
