Two previously deported sex offenders were arrested on two separate occasions by the United States Border Patrol agents assigned to the El Centro Sector.

On Saturday morning, agents assigned to the El Centro station said they observed a man suspected of illegally entering the United States three miles west of the Calexico West Port of Entry. Agents responded to the area and arrested the man and transported him to the El Centro Station for immigration and criminal history screening.

The screening revealed the man, identified as Pascual Nava-Gutierrez, a 32-year-old Mexican national had a conviction for Rape Third Degree Felony and Assault 4th Degree in Marion County, Ore. Nava received 60 months of probation and was required to register as a sex offender, agents said.
