Sustainability fair held at local college

As the push to go green is an ongoing debate on the federal level, some local schools are doing their part to be more sustainable.

Experts say it’s because of Yuma’s large agricultural landscape that makes sustainability a critical part of our lives.

Arizona Western College held their annual Sustainability Fair on Thursday with the goal of making sure everyone is aware of their carbon footprint.

The Environmental Protection Agency says 75 percent of what we throw in the trash can actually be recycled.

The Green New Deal has been an ongoing debate on capitol hill, but kids in school are taught to reduce, reuse and recycle.

The food, games, and music all reflected the way children make the earth more sustainable and to make better choices when they go back home.

More than 600 people were in attendance at the event and more is expected next year.
