Blue Angels return to Imperial Valley for 2019 season

The Blue Angels returned to the Imperial Valley Thursday afternoon to begin their winter training for the upcoming show season.

Officials said the Imperial Valley is an ideal place to train and practice their complex and acrobatic air maneuvers. In March they’ll be holding their 49th local air show. This is is now a community tradition drawing in thousands.

One day prior to the show they’ll have their food fest where the public can come, meet, and mingle with the pilots.

Capt. Eric Doyle encouraged everyone to attend the air show.

“Towards the end of the demonstration, we get all six of us together in the Delta formation. Which is one of the most rewarding times. We have all of us together, showcases our teamwork between the six of us and it’s always a rewarding part of the demonstration. It’s a wonderful show and it’s not just us. There’s so many great things to see at an air show,” Doyle said.

The food fest will take place on Friday, March 15 and the air show will be on Saturday, March 16.
