Yuma County pivotal in AZ Senate race

Yuma County could determine the swing vote in the race between Congresswomen Kyrsten Sinema and Representative Martha McSally.

Over the past few years Yuma has had more registered Democrats according to the states secretary office on registered voters, however, voter turnout has proven in favor for Republican candidates in the past.

As of November of this year, there are nearly 30 thousand registered Democrats in Yuma County, an amount that outdoes Republicans by around 5 thousand registered voters according to the states secretary office.

However, that hasn’t had much impact on the Republican Party considering their voter turnout in the past has been higher. For example, during the 2016 presidential election, President Donald Trump got Arizona’s vote by a margin of only four percent.

In Yuma, he won by only a difference of one percentage point.

However, that same year, the states secretary office reported that voter registration for Democrats was still higher than Republicans by more than 5,000.

In the last week, Yuma has welcomed democratic US Senate candidate Krysten Sinema to town and now Martha McSally will touchdown in Yuma Friday alongside Vice President Mike Pence.

Congresswomen Sinema and Representative McSally are vying for retiring Senator Jeff Flake’s seat.
