President Trump calls off plans to livestream execution of Fort Hood shooter

(NBC, KYMA) - President Donald Trump has called off plans to livestream the execution of Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan.

President Trump posted a message on social media Thursday reversing the plan, originally announced by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

The plan received pushback from both side of the aisle in Washington.

Hasan is still set to be executed by firing squad on December 3 for killing 13 people and injuring another 32 during a 2009 shooting spree.

In his message, Trump said, "He will die, as scheduled, by firing squad, but this event will not be streamed."

Trump did say the families of the victims will be able to view the execution in person, if they so choose.
