Tracking slightly warmer temperatures and stronger winds in the days ahead

Weather Authority/ KYMA

Temperatures have been chilly and cooler than normal, but we will be warming to our seasonal levels toward the end of the week. I am tracking gusty and dusty conditions later this week.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - It was another chilly morning and afternoon temperatures are trending a little warmer than yesterday, but still well below-normal.

Happy National Dessert Day! If you like sweet treats make sure to celebrate with your favorite dessert today! I am tracking a clear and cool evening! It will be a little breezy at times, but still should be a great evening ahead.

Make sure to grab a sweater before heading out the door Thursday morning.

It's going to be another chilly morning with overnight lows dipping into the upper 50s and even some low 60s across the Desert Southwest.

A lower pressure system toward our north will keep us cool for now, but will also bring in strong winds toward the end of this week.

A Wind Advisory is issued and will go into 5 a.m. until 3 pm Friday for Yuma County and parts of Imperial County for east winds and gusts up to 45 MPH.

Gusty winds will move in Friday morning and last through the late afternoon hours. I am tracking winds coming from the northeast/east with gusts between 40-45 MPH. It will bring windy and dusty conditions on Friday.

Prepare for the winds while you still can. Make sure to secure your loose and light items and tie down any bigger items or move them indoors. Remember to check your gates and cover your patio furniture.

Temperatures will warm near-average toward the end of the week, but I am tracking the return of gusty winds and dust later this week and into the start of the weekend. With the strong winds this will trigger a Weather Authority First Alert Action Day Friday morning-Friday afternoon.

Also, the Fall Fest will kick off this Thursday in Yuma and temperatures will be great, but it's going to be windy.

Thursday October 15th is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day (TOMORROW). I invite everyone to please make sure to participate in the Wave of Light. This is where everyone lights a candle at 7:00 pm in every time zone for one hour to remember all the babies who are no longer here.  This continuous wave of light crossing the globe symbolizes a unified vigil of remembrance and support. Tonight we take the time to honor and remember all the babies who were gone too soon, but always remain in our hearts.
