Todd Blanche sworn in as attorney general

WASHINGTON (NBC, KYMA) - Todd Blanche was sworn in as U.S. Attorney General Monday.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt posted to social media of Blanche's swearing in ceremony, saying in part, "Congratulations to a great lawyer and an even better man!"

The president's controversial pick and former personal attorney overcame weeks of drama to become the next leader of the Justice Department (DOJ).

Over the weekend, Sens. John Cornyn (R-Texas), Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) and Bill Cassidy (R-La.) all ultimately voted to confirm Blanche after receiving various assurances from him that he would end the $1.8 billion fund for the president's allies and fix the IRS immunity deal.

Blanche had been leading the DOJ in an acting capacity since his predecessor, Pam Bondi's firing in April.
