Todd Blanche’s confirmation hearing enters second day

WASHINGTON (CBS, KYMA) - It's day two of Acting Attorney General (AG) Todd Blanche's confirmation hearing to become the full time AG.

Lawmakers on the Senate Judiciary Committee had some sharp questions for Blanche Wednesday, and they heard from witnesses who were called to testify for both, and against, Blanche's nomination Thursday.

Witnesses included Jennifer Bos, a mother whose daughter, Megan, was killed by an undocumented immigrant who told the panel Blanche will enforce America's immigration laws and save lives.

"Megan's daughter was only five-years-old when this happened. Her life with Megan and her right to know and make memories with her mom was stolen," Bos expressed.

However, a Jeffrey Epstein survivor testified Blanche oversaw the release of victims' personal information in the DOJ files while ignoring their pleas to meet and discuss the case.

"For us, this has never been about politics. It has been about getting justice for the crimes committed against us," said Dani Bensky, an Epstein survivor.

As a result of Sen. Lindsey Graham's (R-S.C.) passing, Blanche's nomination will not move forward if a single Republican on the committee votes "no."

Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) says he has concerns, but will not make up his mind until it's time to vote.
