Kris Mayes projected to win Arizona attorney general

YUMA COUNTY, Ariz. (KYMA, NBC) - NBC News projected Kris Mayes (D-Ariz.) will remain as the Arizona Attorney General.

As of Wednesday, Attorney General Mayes had more than one million votes, amounting to over 55% of the vote.

Meanwhile, her opponent, State Sen. Warren Petersen (R-District 14) had over 947,500 votes, amounting to nearly 45% of the vote.

Mayes took to social media, following her projected win, thanking the state of Arizona while adding, "Four years ago you made me your Lawyer for the People, an Attorney General for ALL Arizonans— Democrat, Independent, and Republican. We have followed through on that promise and fought for all the people of Arizona. And now it's time to get back to work for the people of this great state! We have a lot left to do."
