DOJ use False Claims Act to target diversity initiatives

(NBC, KYMA) - The Trump Administration is targeting diversity initiatives with a federal civil law that allows the government to recover funds lost due to fraud.

According to reports from the Wall Street Journal, Google and Verizon are among a list of companies that have received Justice Department (DOJ) demands for documents and information about their workplace programs.

The probes are being conducted under the False Claims Act, and companies representing industries including automotive, pharmaceutical, defense, and utilities are under scrutiny.

Some of the companies have reportedly met in person with DOJ officials.

Since taking office in January, President Donald trump has quickly moved to eradicate federal DEI programs and discourage them in the private sector and education.
