Former Rep. Eric Swalwell’s accuser describes her claims
UPDATE (11:03 AM): Another woman steps forward with sexual assault allegations against the now former Congressman Eric Swalwell.
At a press conference Tuesday, Lonna Drewes said in 2018, then Congressman Swalwell drugged, raped and choked her in a California hotel room.
"I only had one glass of wine. We were supposed to go to a political event, and he said he needed to get paperwork from his hotel room. When I arrived at his hotel room, I was already incapacitated and I couldn't move my arms or my body.
It had a profound impact on my mental health. I self-medicated in an unhealthy way. I did not want to live anymore...I cried all the time for years.
It was a politically unusual, intense time in Beverly Hills, and I was considering a run for city council, which placed me in proximity to political figures and events, and added to the pressure to remain composed and silent."

An attorney for Swalwell did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
He has previously admitted to "making mistakes," but has called accusations of sexual assault "flat false."
Drewes said she did not disclose the assault at the time out of concern for Swalwell's political connections and ties to law enforcement.
Drewes and her attorneys, Arick Fudali and Lisa Bloom, say they are bringing her allegations to local law enforcement.
"This is not about Democrat versus Republican. This is about accountability versus silence," Fudali expressed.
"Her body is hers to control, and no man, no matter his position of power or station in life, ever has the right to make that decision for her," Bloom added. "I think the American public is sick and tired of these stories, and I'm sick and tired of women being victimized by men in power."
NBC News have reached out to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office and the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office for comment.
Drewes' accusations come a day after Swalwell announced his plans to resign from Congress following bipartisan calls for him to step down amid sexual assault and misconduct allegations.
