Manhattan DA’s Office investigates Rep. Eric Swalwell over sexual assault allegations

(NBC, KYMA) - The Manhattan District Attorney's Office confirms to NBC News they are investigating an allegation of a sexual assault by Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) in New York City.

This follows a CNN report accusing Rep. Swalwell, who is also running for governor of California, of four instances of sexual misconduct.

The report includes details from a former staffer who says she was heavily intoxicated after a night of drinking with Swalwell in April 2024 when she woke up with him having sex with her at a New York city hotel.

The New York district attorney also urged any other potential survivors or anyone with knowledge of the allegations to contact their special victims division.

Several major Democrats, including Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi have urged Swalwell to drop out of the gubernatorial race, where recent polls put him as a leading candidate.

Swalwell denies the allegations.
