Former Arizona Senator Sinema faces lawsuit over alleged affair

PHOENIX (KYMA) - A former Arizona Senator is facing a lawsuit following an alleged affair with a bodyguard.

Kyrsten Sinema has a civil lawsuit filed against her by a woman who alleges husband, Matthew Ammel, began an affair with the former senator in 2022.

Heather Ammel is seeking over $25,000 in damages in a North Carolina court, stating she had a "good and loving" marriage before Sinema interfered.

Ammel says she discovered messages between her husband and Sinema in early 2024, then he stopped wearing his wedding ring and was offered a job as a national security guard in Sinema's senate office.

Sinema left Congress following the 2024 election and declined re-election. She left the Democratic Party to become Independent.
