MCAS Yuma Air Show is back!

After a three year hiatus, due to the COVID pandemic, The Yuma airshow is set to take flight tomorrow morning.

Pilots today taking their final practice runs.

Saturday, our Yuma skies will once again be filled with daring pilots performing extreme maneuvers over our community.
“We started having airshows here at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma in 1962, and since then we’ve had about 57 of them so this is a time-honored tradition here at MCAS Yuma,” said Captain Brett Vannier, MCAS Public Affairs Director.

The annual show had been cancelled in previous years, but it was a priority for the base to get it going once again.
“Anyone who’s local probably knows we have not had an airshow since 2019 and we are so excited to be able to open the gates and let the community on,” said Captain Vannier.

This event not only attracts locals, but visitors from across the nation who can also go on base to see the aircrafts up close and personal. 
“We’re gonna have sunny skies, be aware that it is loud out here, as you may hear now, so definitely ear protection for the little ones and hearing sensitive. There are a lot of great acts, primarily our military performers,” said Frances Armstrong, MCCS Commercial Sponsorship Coordinator.

The Yuma Airshow features several demonstrations, modern aircraft displays, ground performances, and skydiving teams.

Gates open at 9 a.m. with the show kicking off at 10:30.

MCAS says it’s expecting 20 to 25 thousand people, so be sure to get there early before the rush.
