Eleven-year-old almost kidnapped in Foothills neighborhood

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - On Saturday, December 17, at about 8:51 at night, the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) received a report of an attempted kidnapping in a foothills neighborhood.

Deputies say a gray early 2000s Suburban-style SUV, with a single person, was driving westbound on 34th Street, when it drove by an 11-year-old juvenile outside of a house.

YCSO says the vehicle made a U-turn and parked.

The suspect exited the vehicle and started to call out to the juvenile.

When the juvenile noticed the suspect approaching her, she walked toward the residence, but the suspect followed her into the driveway and was telling her to come with him.

The suspect then grabbed the juvenile’s shirt collar and attempted to take her toward the vehicle.

The juvenile was able to break away and run inside the home.

The suspect then fled the area in the vehicle.

The suspect is described as a heavy-set Hispanic male, with dark curly hair, a beard, and an odor of alcoholic beverages.
